We made a day trip to Edwards after reading about it in a AAA magazine.
The AAA article spoke glowingly about “Riverwalk”–a trendy collection of shops and apartments on the river. Sounded idyllic (and cooler than where we were), so we packed our cameras and set off.The town itself seemed rather unassuming–we still wonder if we actually made it to Edwards, or if we were just on the outskirts. We know we found “Riverwalk” – a large sign told us so – and we pulled in to have a look around. Riverwalk truly is charming – a colorful collection of stores and restaurants, banks and condos, all looking like something out of an old fairy tale. I half expected to see stores selling wands and potions! Sidewalks wind along the river bank, beneath a canopy of trees. We find numerous reasons to take pictures of the town and its equally colorful inhabitants. After lunch at a local restaurant, we walk along the river path, stopping for frequent pictures. The day is hot and the sun bakes us mercilessly, making it seem as hot or hotter than home. A Fall trip would probably be more enjoyable, especially with the abundance of trees along the river bank.
Edwards and especially “Riverwalk” is a great place for a day of shopping and strolling.

In the list of “places I would definitely want to visit again”, Frisco is at the top of the list! Granted, it’s a pretty small list so far, but still. It’s hard to put a finger on why Frisco was such a great trip. It was a combination of things, I think. There are a good number of stores along Main Street, including a dog-treat bakery with a sales-
savvy 8 year-old girl behind the counter. There are a variety of restaurants and coffee shops, something for every taste and budget. And there is an old-time village in a grassy park, where you can wander through the historic buildings for free. Be sure to stop in and get a map at the adjoining Visitor’s Center. The village also has a public restroom–a must-have for travelers, we think. The ones in Frisco got low marks in cleanliness, however.A short drive from Main Street is a marina–a great place to just sit and watch the boats go by, or you can rent everything from a kayak to a pontoon boat. There is also a restaurant at the marina. We had taken a picnic lunch that day, so we don’t know how the food was in Frisco. we will save that review for the next trip.
The only dark spot to the day (literally!) was an afternoon thunderstorm that finally let loose after a day-long spectacularly clouded sky. By afternoon we had decided it would never rain. Colorado is like that, teasing the parched land and never making good on the promise. So we were shocked when the deluge finally came, rolling down the street like a gray blanket, over-taking us before we could even react. We ran for shelter and ended up in a coffee shop–the decor was questionable (large, odd paintings adorned the wall) but the coffee was hot.
It would definitely take more than a day to explore all that Frisco has to offer, so we would recommend this as a week or weekend destination. For more information on Frisco and other destinations, stay tuned! Meanwhile–”Travel On!”

“Oh give me a home, where the buffalo roam…”, goes the refrain of an old song. Thus, the origin of our name. We are Traveling Buffalo, and we would love to roam!
We decided to start by focusing on our own back yard and see what our state has to offer,–heeding that age-old advice by Dorothy that, “there’s no place like home.”
Come with us as we wander and we will tell you of adventures great and small, good times and bad, the wish-we-hadn’t and the wish-we-had-longer places. Join us in spirit as we “Travel On!”
